About Henny Donovan Motif
Henny Donovan Motif was established by the London based author and designer Henny Donovan (BA Hons). Henny set up Motif in response to interest and demand for her original designer stencils and own-brand decorative paints - as well as useful equipment and Henny's published interior decorating books. The whole product range is available for purchase through this website, which operates a worldwide mail order service.
Henny's designs are modern and up to date and aimed at fulfilling today's decorating tastes and totally updating the tired and somewhat twee designs of past decades. Henny's approach to design makes for a range of new, interesting and well-drawn stencils, totally different from many of the mass produced, computer generated designs generally available. As well as her fine art drawing skills, Henny has used her skill and experience in textile design to create new, exciting repeat stencil designs, enabling home decorators to produce their own hand-printed wallpaper and fabric finishes - an innovation in stencil design. Her closely observed botanical drawings and culturally and historically inspired designs bring something new and up-to-date to the stencil market and to interior decorating.
Many of the stencils featured on this website can also be found in full step-by-step illustrated projects in Hennys' books The Bathroom Book and her latest book Creative Wall Art - available for purchase through this site.
Henny's new book Creative Wall Art - published in the UK, the US and in France and Germany - is an inspiring book with a wide appeal for artists, decorators, homeowners, craftworkers and anyone wanting to create their own original wall art for the home - this includes great step by step projects for oversize stencils (all available through this site), fabric printing, painting, drawing, collage, photography, mixed media and more.
More of Henny's new stencil designs are currently in production, due for release soon - and she is now designing another set of new designs to add to Motif's extensive product range. The new designs have strong oriental and botanical influences, with more exciting large wall stencils and toile inspired designs.
