Use the Large Stars Theme Pack Stencil - part of our Star Stencil range - to create simple star designs and starbursts on walls, on ceilings, in children's rooms and for seasonal decorations.

The Large Stars Theme Pack Stencil is a four sheet single layer theme pack containing an eight pointed star in three different sizes, a six pointed star in two sizes and a five pointed star in two sizes. See specifications below.

Use the stars together or individually depending on which style suits your creation! The simple large stars in this theme pack are ideal for creating sparkling decorations on walls, starscapes on ceilings, frosting on windows and for seasonal wrapping and decorations. Stars also look fantastic stencilled onto card and cut out to hang as glittering festive mobiles and tree decorations.

Stencil the Large Stars on dark backgrounds in Ice White, Pearl and Silver Lights with Glitter Paint highlights, or with Antique Gold Metallic Stencil Paint with Gold Stardust highlights. Or try the same colours on icy pastel backgrounds - very beautiful.

Above - the different stars in this theme pack stencilled in Ice White and Evening Primrose Stencil Paint on a blue to mauve graduated background (see techniques bottom right).

Or for festive stencilling use with the Small Snowflakes Stencil, the Large Snowflakes Theme Pack and the Oversize Snowflakes Stencil.

Stencil the Stars with pastel Stencil Paints and over-stencil with Glitter Stencil Paints, Metallic Stencil Paints and Interference Paints for real sparkle and lustre. Or use metallic spray paints or spray frosting medium.

Specifications

One layer stencil on 4 sheets. 3 different star designs, repeated on different scales.

There are three eight pointed stars - 30cm (11 3/4"), 20cm (7 3/4") and 9.5cm (3 3/4") across at widest points.

There are two six pointed stars - 18cm (7") and 10cm (4") across at diagonal widest point.

There are two five pointed stars - 19cm (7 1/2") and 9.5cm (3 3/4") at widest points.

Please note - to keep these star designs as simple and star-like as possible a minimum of bridges have been used - so care should be taken when handling and stencilling.  Use repositionable spray adhesive to secure stencils before stencilling and to prevent paint bleeding.

Above - the different stars of this theme pack, repeated randomly on a pale blue background and stencilled in a combination of pastel and bright colours. Any bright and pastel tones will work well for this. Our example is stencilled in French Lavender, Cerise, English Rose, Almond Blossom and Buttercup - with a preponderance of stars stencilled in a mixture of Ice White and Evening Primrose Stencil Paints.

Graduated Painted Background Technique
Very effective with starry stencils a graduated painted background can be achieved by using two similar tones of emulsion paint (latex) and a tinted varnish glaze over the top. This technique will not work with radically different colours - keep the tones similar so mixing is easier. Mix a third of each colour together to create a mid-tone colour and paint the wall in horizontal bands dark to light, brushing the colours lightly over each other at the joining bands to create as softer join as possible. Keep strokes long, smooth and horizontal. Mix a varnish glaze using 2/3rd Acrylic Matt Varnish, 1/3rd Acrylic Scumble Glaze. Add a little water if the glaze is much thicker than the consistency of double cream. Tint the glaze with several drops of Universal Tinter to create a transparent glaze a couple of shades deeper than the middle tone of your painted wall. Brush the glaze over the wall and soften in long smooth strokes using a Hog Hair Softener.
