Acrylic Varnishes & Glazes

Our highly popular Acrylic quick drying interior water-based varnish is non-yellowing, odourless and dries to a clear finish. Acrylic Varnish now comes in Matt and Eggshell finishes in 500ml. Our Matt Varnish also comes in 100ml for handy touch-ups. Acrylic Varnish is ideal for sealing hand painted or stencilled areas, or for protecting freshly painted walls, without changing the colour beneath, or for varnishing furniture painted with acrylic or water-based paints. 500ml covers an approximate area of 6 to 7.5 sq metres. Our water-based Acrylic Scumble Glaze is a colourless medium perfect for faux finishes and all paint effects and ideally should be sealed with acrylic varnish once fully dry to protect the finish. Use our Universal Tinters or artist's acrylics for tinting and colouring our varnish and glaze.  See below for more information

*Please note:  Acrylic Varnish is an interior varnish for walls and furniture and decorative areas. It is not suitable for outdoor usage or for varnishing surfaces painted with oil based products.

*100ml Matt varnish. A handy sized touch-up pot and also excellent for sealing the edges of tapes prior to painting for creating crisp painted edges, with no bleeding.

* To make a Pearl Shimmer Varnish use 2 - 3 pots of Pearl Metallic Stencil Paint to one 500ml Varnish to create a cool lustre effect.

*To create a smooth finish with Acrylic Varnishes use a Large 4" Synthetic Paint Brush (click on link for synthetic Sprig Elite Brushes).

*Useful tip: Varnishing furniture and painted accessories?  Allow lots of curing time between coats to create an extra durable finish. Whilst acrylic varnish is quick drying, it is tougher if you allow plenty of drying times between coats - 12 - 24 hours.

*When using Acrylic Scumble Glaze allow glaze work to dry and harden for 24-48 hours and then seal with Acrylic Varnish.
