Deluxe wisteria blossom stencil
Detailed 2 sheet stencil

The early summer flowering wisteria with its prolific, falling blossom and elegantly stylish leaves is a design classic. Here Henny has lovingly captured the detail of the many bloomed flower bunches, the tapering and entwining leaf groups and woody twisted stems and branches to create a truly classic stencil design.

Description

The Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil is a sumptuous bough of profuse falling wisteria blossom and tangled branches – one of our most detailed stencils yet! Ideal for adding an amazing focal point to your decorating schemes. Perfect for adding an extra special finish to horizontal spaces above sofas, fireplaces, beds, windows, arches and doorways. It takes an absolute age to cut each sheet this end, so it is not cheap, but will give the experienced stenciller a thrill to have such an accurately detailed design to work with. See techniques below if you are just starting out with this stencil.

The wisteria effect can be extended further with either the Large or Small Wisteria Theme Pack Stencil to create a full on wisteria experience! (Wisteria overview below). The Wisteria Blossom Bough is a two sheet stencil with registration dots for aligning the two sheets to create the wisteria bough motif.  See Wisteria Blossom Bough layout and size specifications below.

Above – a different approach to stencilling the Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil – the stencil is applied to a black painted board with a Stencil Roller in Ice White Stencil Paint as a striking silhouette – for a graphic contemporary effect.

Above – this stencil can be applied in simple white on black, for a contemporary effect, and styled with striking black furniture and white and grey cushions for a really smart finish.

Above – stencilling silhouette style in one colour with a stencil roller is a good approach if you are starting out stencilling, especially as this is a complex design to stencil in full colour, though not to the experienced stenciller.

Above – the Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil has been extended by adding additional motifs from the Small Wisteria Theme Pack Stencil. This theme pack will be a useful addition to purchase if you want to add a little extra detail or length or change the dimensions of this stencil.

Above and below – use the different motifs from the Large Wisteria Theme Pack placed above and around the Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil to create this sumptuous two-tiered wisteria effect, emulating the look of a mature wisteria bough in full bloom.

Wisteria Range Overview

Both the Large Wisteria Theme Pack and the Small Wisteria Theme Pack can be used in conjunction with this stencil.  The flowers and leaves of all three wisteria designs are on the same scale, so can be intermixed. Small and Large Theme Packs refers to the size of the stencil sheets and number of motifs in each pack.

Above – create this stylish look with the Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil placed above a period fireplace – a simple setting is instantly transformed with this beautiful, but not overbearing focal point. Cushion decorated with the Small Wisteria Theme Pack Stencil and Motif Fabric Paints.

Above – stencilling in subtle, more muted shades causes the effect to blend and harmonise with the room.  Use stronger contrasting colours for a more pronounced effect. See below for Stencil Paints used here.

Tips for stencilling – the following technique was used for the effect above: the whole motif was first stencilled with a Stencil Roller in one single colour, in this case Spearmint Stencil Paint. This creates a uniformity to the design and ensures all detailed areas are covered. Then using Stencil Sponges the twigs and branches were over-stencilled with Chocolat, Mocha and Coffee Bean Stencil Paints, the flowers on each flower bunch were over-stencilled with French Lavender and Forget-me-not and the leaves with Ash Green and Verbena Stencil Paints.

Above – adding motifs from the Large Wisteria Theme Pack to the Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil creates endless options and design possibilities to create just the wisteria effect you want. The design can be extended horizontally and vertically and the flower clumps thickened even more!

Techniques for stencilling the Wisteria Blossom Bough Stencil

If you are beginning stencilling you can still stencil this complex design. Either use a Stencil Roller to stencil the whole design in one colour, silhouette style – the simplest approach! Or to stencil with natural wisteria colours, first stencil the whole motif again with a Stencil Roller in one single colour, such as a light green. This creates a uniformity to the design and ensures all detailed areas are covered. Then using Stencil Sponges over-stencil the twigs and branches in one or two shades of brown, the flowers on each flower bunch in one or two shades of lilac and one or two shades of green for the leaves. You may wish to go back to certain areas to re-stencil the brown of a twig or green of the flower centres etc. Full instructions also come with this design.
